Artists Biography                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                 Michel Williatte-Battet was born in Montreal in 1960. When he was 20 years old

he left home to travel the world. After returning many years later he decided to

explore the Maritimes with the notion of fulfilling one of his dreams ,  living by the sea.

In 1989 he discovered and moved to St. Joseph du Moine, a small Acadian village located on the

western side of Cape Breton Island, in Nova Scotia and this is where he decided to settle down.

In the summer of 1990 Michel opened a small gallery selling Nova Scotian arts and crafts.

In that same year inspired by the work he had collected for the gallery,  he decided to  try his hand

at painting and carving, he as been working as a visual artist ever since that day.

Over the years he has developed a unique style using humour, vibrant colours

and a natural sense of design to create whimsical and enchanting works of art.
